The Princeton sprint football will conclude the home half of the 2012 schedule this Friday, Oct. 12 versus Franklin Pierce. The Tigers (0-4) face the Pride (0-2) for the first time in program history in a 7 p.m. meeting at Powers Field at Princeton Stadium.

Princeton has been knocking on the victory door the past four weeks, falling in three games by seven points or less. One team Friday will be coming out with their first win of the year, with the Tigers looking to snap their 13-season losing streak in the process.

Last week Princeton was one possession from snapping its losing skid, suffering a heartbreaking 32-29 overtime loss to Post on Oct. 5. Despite trailing for much of the game, Princeton managed to claw its way back and even the score, 26-26, with 10:45 remaining in the fourth quarter.  With six seconds left in regulation, Post attempted to score the game-winner behind a Peter Clearly field goal, but Bob Dougherty was there to block the kick and keep the Tigers alive. In overtime, Princeton was unable to find the end zone and was forced to settle for a field goal. On Post's overtime drive the Eagles were able to score on a five-yard rush to hand the Tigers the loss.

Franklin Pierce is in its first year of sprint football, seeing losses in its first two games, 26-21 to Cornell on Sept. 22 and 24-20 to Penn on Sept. 30. The Pride's quarterback Tyler Matthews is 30-for-62, throwing 428 yards with two interceptions. He's had a trio of primary targets in Jahlil Dean, Michael Holdridge and D.J. MacDonald, who each have a touchdown apiece and are averaging 54 yards or more per game. FPU's defense has three combined picks and James Willette leads the squad in tackles with 21.

Friday's game will also mark the final home game for the senior class. Prior to kickoff the Class of 2013 will be recognized.
