This Week for the Tigers: The Princeton baseball team concludes the non-conference schedule with a four-game series at Navy (8-11) this weekend from Mar. 22-24. The Tigers (1-13) will look to snap their eight-game losing skid in Annapolis, Md.

Last Time Out: Princeton suffered midweek losses to No. 1 North Carolina, 16-0, Elon, 12-11, and UNC-Greensboro, 9-7. At Elon, the Tigers rallied back with a five-run ninth to tie things up, but the Phoenix were able to retake the lead and earn the win on a walk-off RBI single.

Princeton responded at UNCG by holding a 7-2 advantage in the sixth, but seven Spartan runs over the seventh and eighth frames were too much to overcome and the Tigers’ fell 9-7.

On Deck: The Tigers open the Ivy League and home slate with a pair of weekend doubleheaders versus Yale and Brown on Mar. 30 and 31.

Scouting Navy: Navy (11-8) is riding a two-game winning streak entering this weekend’s series. Five Midshipmen are hitting above .300, with Kash Manzelli’s .353 leading the way. He’s 24-for-68 and has 14 runs and 11 RBI. Navy’s rotation has gone 14 players deep and Saturday game one starter Ben Nelson serves as the squad’s top hurler with a 1.30 ERA and a 4-1 record. In five starts, he’s gone 34.2 innings and thrown 39 strikeouts.

Rookie Battery: Freshmen pitcher Cameron Mingo and catcher Andres Larramendi earned their first career starts at UNC-Greensboro on Mar. 20. Mingo went 6.0 innings, striking out three, scattering nine hits and allowing two runs (only one earned). Larramendi played all nine innings, tallying a walk and a run.

Davis Knocks First Long Ball: Junior Will Davis hit his first career home run at UNC-Greensboro on Mar. 20. He led off the fifth with a solo run to right center in his first start of the year.

Road Warriors: Princeton will play its first 18 games on the road before its home opener versus Yale on Saturday, Mar. 30.

2013 Outlook:
• Princeton boasts one of its deepest rosters in 2013 with 32 players.
• The Tigers return six field starters from a year ago, along with three starting pitchers.
• Including the three starting pitchers returning, the Tigers welcome back 11 hurlers.
• Princeton welcomes eight newcomers in 2013. The addition of three pitchers and five field players will look to bolster the lineup.
• The Tigers lost five letterwinners from a year ago, including a pair of starters in shortstop/RHP junior Matt Bowman and catcher/utility senior Sam Mulroy. The duo was both drafted last spring by the Mets and Angels, respectively.

2012 All-Ivy: Six Tigers earned All-Ivy League honors in 2012 wiht Ivy Pitcher of the Year Zak Hermans leading the way. Hermans, Sam Mulroy and Alec Keller were named to the first team, while Mike Ford was tabbed to the second team. Matt Bowman earned honorable mention accolades at both pitcher and shortstop, along with outfielder Steve Harrington.

Princeton returns four All-Ivy selections in 2013.
