SESSION ONE RESULTS

Junior Michael Manhard broke the oldest record on the men's side, while the reigning Ivy League champion Tiger women swept all five swimming events, to highlight the opening night for both Ivy League champion swimming and diving programs.

MEN

Princeton won four of five swimming events, though the highlight came in the diving well. Manhard posted a winning score of 361.20 in the 1-meter diving competition, which broke the record of Billy Heinz set back in 1975.

The Tigers opened the swim events with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay, as En-Wei Hu-Van Wright, Michael Strand, Jeffrey Williamson and Lance Rutkin finished in 1:25.00. The latter two were making their collegiate debuts, as was Sam Smiddy, who won the 500 free in 4:33.08.

Princeton took the top nine spots in the 200 IM, with sophomore Teo D'Alessandro winning in 1:50.35. Hu-Van Wright took second in 1:51.98, while junior Connor Maher placed third in 1:52.53.

Another Princeton freshman, Julian Mackrel, won the 50 in 21.05, while sophomores Sandy Bole (21.19) and Jeremy Wong (21.24) took the next two spots. Strand, Jack Pohlmann, D'Alessandro and Mackrel wrapped up the session by winning the 400 medley relay in 3:22.45.

WOMEN

Princeton was perfect in the pool, and it started with an impressive showing in the 200 free relay, as Lisa Boyce, Elizabeth McDonald, Nicole Larson and Morgan Karetnick took the win by nearly three seconds in 1:34.28. Boyce, McDonald and Karetnick were part of Princeton's Ivy League championship 200 free relay from last season.

While three members of that relay were freshmen last season, three freshmen made up the second-place quartet; Olivia Chan, Kathleen Mulligan and Katie Diller joined sophomore Mallory Remick to place second in 1:37.19.

Sophomore Sada Stewart won the 500 free in 5:00.51, while Larson (2:03.48) and Chan (2:05.44) went 1-2 in the 200 IM. Larson was also part of a 1-2 finish in the 50 free, though she finished behind Boyce, the reigning Ivy League champion. Boyce claimed the win in 22.75, while Larson took second in 23.42.

Boyce, Chan, Larson and McDonald were extremely impressive in winning the 400 medley relay in 3:47.07, more than six seconds faster than any relay in the field.
