Peter Milliman, former Pfeiffer University head coach, will be joining the Princeton coaching staff.

The Princeton University men's lacrosse won 11 games this past season.

Peter Milliman did the Tigers one better.

Milliman, who led Pfeiffer University to a program-record 12 wins in the 2012 season, has left his position as head coach of the Falcons to become the volunteer assistant coach at Princeton.

"Peter brings a wealth of experience to our staff, and we are excited to have him on board," says Princeton head coach Chris Bates. "He has done an impressive job, especially as a head coach for the last four year, where he helped bring Pfeiffer's program to new heights. Peter also has an outstanding background as player, which will help in our player development. Peter is well-respected in the lacrosse community, and I am confident he will be an outstanding addition to our staff."

Milliman replaces Jeff Guy, who left Princeton after one season to become the head coach of Division III University of Dallas.

"Princeton has a strong tradition of excellence, and they recruit the top student athletes in the country," Milliman said.  This is a program that I have been watching my entire life and I am really excited for this opportunity."

Milliman spent four years as the head coach at Pfeiffer, where his teams improved their win total each year. He was twice named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year, and his four-year record was 37-26. The Falcons had been 4-22 in the two years prior to his arrival.

Pfeiffer reached the Conference Carolinas championship game for the second consecutive year, losing to national runner up Limestone 9-5 after falling 8-7 in OT to Limestone during the regular season. Pfeiffer reached as high as 10th in the USILA national Division II rankings in 2012.

Under Milliman the Falcons have finished in the top five in goals-against average, man-down defense and scoring margin in each of the past two seasons and led the nation in save percentage in 2011 (.657).  He also coached 13 players who combined to earn 21 all-conference selections, including a program record nine in 2012, as well as the last two conference Freshman of the Year honorees.

Before taking over at Pfeiffer, Milliman spent two years as an assistant coach at Rochester Institute of Technology, a highly successful Division III program, sandwiched around one year as an assistant at Division I Siena.

He was a three-time Division III All-America at Gettysburg, and he helped his team to two NCAA Division III championship games.

He also played for four years with the Rochester Rattlers and helped the team to the 2008 Major League Lacrosse championship.
