Santa Clara scored three runs on three doubles, a single and a walk before Princeton took its first swings and the Broncos never relinquished the lead, pushing it to run-rule status in the top of the fifth in a 9-1 win. A third-inning Haley Hineman single accounted for Princeton's only hit in the opener Sunday.
In game two, Princeton got an RBI single from Alyssa Schmidt to take a first-inning one-run lead, but San Jose State responded with four runs on five singles in the fourth in a 4-1 victory.
Rachel Rendina went 2 for 3 in the second game Sunday against San Jose State.

In game two, Princeton's opposition used another string of hits to get a win as San Jose State had four straight singles to rally and take a 4-1 victory.
• Princeton and San Jose State have now met six times on the softball field and the Spartans now lead the all-time series 5-1.
• Santa Clara broke the all-time tie in the series with Princeton and now leads 5-4. Princeton had won the last four meetings.
Princeton will head to Sacramento State for a 4 p.m. ET doubleheader Tuesday.
