The Princeton men's volleyball team embarked on a five-matches-in-five-days stretch Saturday afternoon, and it made sure it was highly efficient with its time. Princeton swept both EIVA rival Rutgers-Newark and NYU Saturday afternoon to move two matches above the .500 mark for the first time this season.

Princeton (9-7, 7-2 EIVA) hit an impressive .384 in the opener, taking out a feisty Newark squad 25-23, 25-18, 25-19 to complete the season sweep. Sophomore Devin Stearns and junior Cody Kessel combined for 25 of the team's 45 kills, while freshman Junior Oboh had four blocks to go along with seven kills. Classmate Chris Kennedy shined at the setter spot, recording 33 assists and adding two of the team's five aces.

Senior tri-captain Jeff Stapleton earned the start and had eight kills and six digs, while Tony Ensbury, a guest on TigerCast this week, added a team-best nine digs.

The second match allowed head coach Sam Shweisky to use most of his rotation, including sophomore Michael Bagnell, who had a team-best 11 kills in the 25-21, 25-20, 27-25 victory over former EIVA member NYU. Classmate Zach Shaw added 10 kills, while freshman Kurt Thiemann had nine kills and seven blocks in the best performance of his young career. Senior setter Davis Waddell had 27 assists and nine kills, while senior Bar Shabtai had 12 digs for the Princeton defense.

Princeton will now take a Spring Break trip to North Carolina to play a trio of teams in the Conference Carolinas. On Monday at 7, Princeton will be in Misenheimer, N.C., to take on Pfeiffer; two days later, the Tigers will head to Mount Olive, N.C., for Wednesday showdowns against both Barton (5 pm) and Mount Olive (7 pm).
