PRINCETON, N.J. (11/7/13) - Jack Berger of the Princeton men's hockey team has been named a candidate for the 2013-14 Senior CLASS Award, formerly the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - classroom, character, community and competition.

The 20 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Men’s Frozen Final Four® in April.

Princeton hockey alum Landis Stankievech '08 won this very award in 2008, the second year the award was given out.

A two-time captain, Berger will play in his 100th career game on Friday night as Princeton takes on defending national champion Yale. Berger has played in every single game since arriving at Princeton and has 16 goals and 29 assist for 45 points (*as of press time). He has been invited to two NHL Development Camps in the last two years, with the Ottawa Senators and the New Jersey Devils. Additionally, Berger's classroom and community service efforts are unparalled.
