Princeton University men’s ice hockey captain Jack Berger leans back in a chair at The Small World of Coffee on Witherspoon Street. His Macbook Pro rests next to a disposable cup of coffee on a small, circular table.

Berger, who’s played hockey since he was four, spends a couple of moments thinking of his first memory.

”My coach, ironically was named Tiger, a red-haired guy, and I just remember getting on the ice and I just fell flat on my face,” Berger said. “As soon as I stepped on.”

It’s January, and the 22-year-old puts his laptop away, explaining Princeton has finals after vacation. He said he’s spent much of his post-winter break time at the Pliny Fisk Library, studying for his exams.
