PRINCETON, N.J. (4/6/13) – Junior Tom Hopkins earned a first-, second- and third-place finish as the Princeton men's track & field team completed the 2013 Sam Howell Invitational on Saturday, April 6 at Weaver Stadium.
The 4x100 relay got the day started with a second-place finish. Freshman Dre Nelson, freshman John Hill, sophomore Daniel McCord and Hopkins ran a 41.30. Three relays exceeded the meet record of 41.69.
McCord went on to run a PR in the 400, clocking a 49.34. Hopkins also had a third-place finish in the 200 at 21.75
Hopkins earned a win in the long jump. He launched himself to 7.25 (23-9.50) on his first attempt. Sophomore Tumi Akinlawon was fifth in the event, reaching 6.83 (22.5) on his sixth attempt.
Junior Damon McLean was second in the triple jump, jumping to 15.12 (49-7.75) just half-of-an-inch shy of the win. Sophomore Nana Owusu-Nyantekyi was fourth with a mark of 14.18 (46-6.25).
In the high jump, Omar Jarrett finished in third place. He cleared 1.99 (6-6.25) on his third and final attempt.
Junior Alec Bingaman threw a PR of 57.95 (190-01) in the javelin to take fifth. Sophomore Scott Rushton had a PR himself in the shot put. Rushton was third in the event with a throw of 16.07 (52-8.75) on his fourth throw of the day.
Two Tigers finished in the top-5 of the 800. Junior Michael Williams was third at 1:50.97 and sophomore Bradley Paternostro placed fourth at 1:50.98.
In the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Rob Mohr clocked a 14.81 to finish fourth.
