PRINCETON (11/23/12) - Eighth-ranked Ohio State rallied from a 2-0 deficit with a four-goal third period to defeat the Princeton women's hockey team 4-2 on Friday night at Hobey Baker Rink. Princeton took a 2-0 lead in the game on power-play goals from Brianna Leahy and Ali Pankowski but couldn't withstand the Buckeye onslaught, which broke through in the third period.

Ohio State fired 51 shots on the Princeton goal in the win, but it wasn't until its 36th shot that the Buckeyes cracked Tigers goalie Kimberly Newell, who made a career-high 47 saves in the loss, including 23 in the second period.

Ohio State's first goal came on a rebound on the power play at 2:34 of the third period and began a span in which the Buckeyes scored three goals in a seven-minute stretch. Julia McKinnon scored on the power play to put Ohio State on the scoreboard and Danielle Gagne drew her team even at 5:10 capping an end-to-end rush from Ally Tarr. The two hooked up again on Ohio State's third goal as Gagne scored on the rebound of a Tarr shot.

Princeton took a 1-0 lead at 13:03 of the first period on Leahy's second goal of the season. The power-play tally came as Leahy shot from the top of the right circle and had her shot deflect in off a Buckeye skate in front of the net. Pankowski then gave Princeton a 2-0 lead in the first minute of the second period when her point blast on the power play was redirected off a Buckeye stick at the top of the circle. Olivia Mucha and Rose Alleva assisted on Leahy's goal, while Alex Kinney and Corey Stearns had assists on the Pankowski marker.

Ohio State's Kayla Sullivan added an empty netter in the game's final minute.

Princeton was outshot 51-21 in the loss. Chelsea Knapp made 19 saves for the win. Ohio State improved to 11-4-0 overall, while the Tigers fell to 3-6-2. The teams complete their series on Saturday at 4 p.m.
