Former Princeton men's hockey player George Parros '03 has been signed to a two-year contract with the Florida Panthers.

The unrestricted free agent was signed on the first day of NHL free agency, July 1.

Parros commented in an AP article: "Florida impressed a lot of people and was on everyone's radar. I think we all saw that. It seems like that they've got a good young team together."

The Sports Network quoted general manager Dale Tallon: "George is a physical player who adds toughness to our lineup. He is a high-character, hard-working player who is respected throughout the league. We look forward to George's contributions to our club both on and off the ice."

Parros has been an Anaheim Duck since the 2006-07 season, winning the Stanley Cup with the organization in 2007. Prior to joinging the Ducks, Parros played for the Colorado Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings. He spent two seasons in the minor league immediately following his graduation from Princeton, before becoming the seventh Princetonian to play in the NHL when he was named to the Kings' opening night roster for the 2005-06 season.

Parros played in 111 games at Princeton, scoring 20 goals and adding 25 assists for 45 points. The Washington, Pa., native also went to high school in New Jersey at Delbarton.
