Incoming Princeton men's hockey player Mike Ambrosia has been named the 2011-12 recipient of the United States Hockey League's Curt Hammer Award.

The Curt Hammer Award has been presented annually since the 1988-1989 season and recognizes the USHL player who distinguishes himself both on and off the ice by demonstrating outstanding performance skills, leadership, pride, and determination. The award is given in memory of the late Curt Hammer, who served as president of the Des Moines Buccaneers for three seasons (1984-1987) and also held the role of secretary for the USHL.

A native of Chatham, N.J., Ambrosia led the Phantoms with 65 points and 47 assists, both of which are franchise records. He is the first player in the franchise to win the honor.
