After cruising to a 7-3 series opening victory, the Princeton baseball team needed a ninth inning rally to edge past Penn, 4-3, to sweep Saturday's twinbill. The Tigers improve to 15-12, 8-2 Ivy on the year and remain in sole possession of second place in the Gehrig Division, as Penn falls to 14-15, 5-5 Ivy.

Steve Harrington led the Tiger offense on the day, going 5-for-8, with two runs and two RBI.

Game One

A pair of three-run innings provided Princeton with the offensive momentum to guide the squad to a 7-3 win versus Penn to open the day.

In the second frame, freshman Blake Thomsen, who went 2-for-3, hit a one out RBI single through the left side to break up the scoreless game. Alex Flink followed with an RBI double down the right field line and one out later, Matt Bowman's infield RBI single made it a 3-0 ball game in favor of the Tigers.

While pitcher Mike Ford protected his no-hitter, the bottom half of the forth saw another three-run inning from the offense. With a pair of runners on, Alec Keller reached on a fielder's choice.  Both runners were safe and reached home on the play due to an error on the Quaker pitcher Cody Thomson (2-2). Three batters later, Mulroy hit an RBI double to left field to make it a 6-0 game.

Harrington added Princeton's final run off a solo home run to right field.

Ford (3-3) tallied three strikeouts over 7.0 innings. His complete game no-hitter was broken up in the top of the seventh, as Penn rallied back with three runs on three hits and a Tiger error.

Game Two

For the second time in three games the Tigers employed a ninth inning comeback to propel past their opponent. This time Princeton handed Penn a 4-3 loss in game two action.

In the third inning, a two-out Spencer Branigan RBI single provide the Quakers with a 1-0 lead. Princeton responded in the bottom half of the frame, evening the score  behind a Ford RBI single.

Following four scoreless innings, Penn took control of the game with solo home runs in the eighth and ninth.

Down 3-1, Princeton's chance for a sweep was on the line in the bottom of the ninth. With one out and runners on first and second, freshman Tyler Servais made it a one-run game with an RBI single to right center and Harrington evened the score, 3-3, with an RBI single up the middle. Pinch hitter Keller followed with a walk-off two-out RBI single to center field to lift the Tigers to their third consecutive win.

Pitcher Zak Hermans (4-2) threw seven strikeouts over his nine-inning complete game victory.

Princeton concludes its four-game series versus Penn tomorrow, Sunday, April 15, with a doubleheader beginning at 12 noon at Clarke Field.
