Calof to Represent Canada in Maccabiah Games

PRINCETON, N.J. (7/15/13) - Senior Andrew Calof of the Princeton men's hockey team will compete at the Maccabiah Games, July 16-31 in Israel.

The Opening Ceremony will take place on July 18th in Jerusaelm. The Maccabiah 2013 will be the largest in history, with over nine thousand athletes representing 71 countries.

Maccabi Canada begins play on Saturday, July 20 against the Ukraine at 9:30 p.m. The team faces Israel on Sunday, July 21 at 9 p.m. and USA on Tuesday, July 23. All games will take place at the Canada Center in Metula, in Northern Israel.

Calof has led Princeton in scoring every year of his career. In 95 career games, he has scored 102 points on 40 goals and 62 assists and has a +17 on-ice rating. The 2011 ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year, Calof is a two-time all-ECAC Hockey honoree and three-time all-Ivy League selection. This past season Calof was the third leading scorer in the ECAC with 13 goals and 23 assists for 26 points and was a finalist for the league's Player of the Year award. Hockey Commissioners' Association National Player of the Month for January, Calof became the 14th player in program history to score 100 points, when he scored the overtime game winner at Harvard in the final game of the regular season.

The games take place every four years in their respective regions, with the Maccabiah Games in Israel being the largest and the point of pride for the organization.The Maccabiah Games is one of the top three gatherings of athletes in the world. Over 8000 athletes proudly represent over 65 countries and compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
