WAKEFIELD, Mass. (2/1/13) - Princeton junior Andrew Calof, who led the nation in scoring in January, has been named the first Hockey Commissioners’ Association National Division I Player of the Month for 2013.

This is Princeton's first HCA National Player of the Month honor.

A 5-10, 175-pound top-liner from Nepean, Ont., Calof scored an ECAC Hockey-high and nation-high 12 points in January. In five contests during the year’s first month he netted five goals and added seven assists, surpassing a previous career-high for a point total in one month of 10 (Nov., 2010).

Averaging 2.40 points per game during the month, Calof had two four-point back-to-back games scoring one goal and adding three assists in two Tigers wins - a 4-1 league-win over Rensselaer on Jan. 12 and a 5-2 non-league victory over Sacred Heart on Jan. 27. His goal versus the Pioneers was one of two game-winners during the month. He was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the week Jan. 9 after collecting his first-career hat trick and providing all of the team’s offense in a league-win over rival Harvard, 3-2 on Jan. 4 and adding an assist on Princeton’s first goal of the evening on a power play sparking its offense, which ultimately led to a 2-1 win over nationally-ranked Dartmouth.

Overall he recorded four power-play points, and registered a 55.9 face-off win percentage (38 of 68) during the month to pace the Tigers to a 4-1 record as they now sit in fifth-place in ECAC Hockey standings.

A two-time team leader in scoring Calof now ranks third in the nation in points per game (1.47)
and leads the league in points per game (1.42) in conference games. With the productive month he
is the Tigers top scorer through 19 games with 28 points (10g, 18a) and now has career totals of 36
goals, 56 assists and 92 points in 83 games.
