PRINCETON, N.J. (1/30/13) - The Princeton men's hockey team looks to keep its streak alive as it heads into the second portion of the ECAC Hockey league schedule. Princeton travels to No. 8 Yale on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m., and Brown on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 4 p.m.

Princeton is 7-8-4 overall after opening the second portion of the schedule with a 5-2 win over Sacred Heart on Sunday. The Tigers have won their last two games and are 4-1 since the New Year. Princeton averages 2.63 goals per game and allow 2.79 gpg. Princeton owns the third-best power play in the nation and the 11th best penalty kill. The power play converts at a rate of 25 percent (16/64) and the team has killed of 86.2 percent of its penalties (75/87).

Junior Andrew Calof leads the team in scoring and ranks third in the nation in points per game. Calof has scored 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points in 19 games. He also leads the league in conference only points with 17 in 12 games. Sophomore Tyler Maugeri adds 19 points on eight goals and 11 assists. Junior Andrew Ammon chips in 12 points with six goals and assists each. Senior defenders Michael Sdao and Eric Meland contribute 11 and 10 points, respectively. Senior Mike Condon has made 13 starts in goal and has a 5-6-3 record with a .920 save percentage and a 2.44 goals against average. Junior netminder Sean Bonar is 2-2-1 with an .895 save percentage and a 3.09 GAA.

Yale leads the all-time series 131-103-10 since the team’s starting playing on Jan. 19, 1901. The teams faced each other in an non-conference game to start the season with Yale winning 3-2. Last year the Yale had a 1-4-1 record, as the teams met three times in the regular season and three times in the post season. Junior Andrew Calof leads the team in scoring against Yale with eight goals and four assists for 12 points. Senior Rob Kleebaum has seven goals and two assists for nine points. Senior defenders Michael Sdao and Eric Meland add eight and seven points, respectively. Junior Sean Bonar is 1-2-1 against Yale with an .896 save percentage and a 3.70 GAA. Senior Mike Condon is 0-3 with an .899 save percentage and a 4.24 GAA.

Yale is second in the league with an 8-4-1 record. The Bulldogs split last weekend, defeating Cornell in overtime and falling 4-1 to Colgate the next night, snapping a five-game win streak. Yale is 12-5-3 overall and ranked No. 8 in the nation. The Elis average 3.20 gpg and allow 2.70 gpg. Yale’s power play converts 21.4 percent (21/98), while the penalty kill rates at 82.1 percent (78/95).

Three players have 20+ points, with junior Kenny Agostino leading with 25 points on 11 goals and a team-best 14 assists. Senior Antoine Laganiere has 23 points on a team-high 12 goals and 11 assists. Senior Andrew Miller has scored nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points. Juniors Jesse Root and Clinton Bourbonais, sophomores Trent Ruffolo and Nicholas Weberg are all in double digits, along with defender Tommy Fallon. Senior Jeff Malcolm has played 18 games in goal and has a .919 save percentage and a 2.43 GAA with an 11-4-2 record. Senior Nick Maricic provides backup with a 1-1-1 record, an .855 save percentage and a 3.91 GAA.

Brown holds an 82-65-8 edge in the all-time series, that began in 1900-01. The Bears took a 2-1 game to start the season at the Ivy Shootout. Last season the teams went 1-1-1 with Princeton winning in Providence, the teams tying in Princeton and Brown winning on neutral ice. Junior Andrew Calof is in double digits in scoring against Brown with 10 points on three goals and seven assists. Senior Michael Sdao has nine points on three goals and six assists. Senior Mike Condon is 2-3 when playing Brown, with a .924 save percentage and a 2.40 GAA. Junior Sean Bonar has one tie with a .944 save percentage and a 2.03 GAA.

Brown enters the weekend with a 7-9-4 overall record and a 3-6-4 mark in the league to sit in a three-way tie for eighth place in the ECAC. The Bears split last weekend on the road, falling 2-1 to Colgate before a 3-0 shutout of Cornell. The team averages 2.45 gpg and allows 2.60. Brown’s power play is 12 for 81 (14.8%) while the penalty kill is last in the league, giving up 17 goals on 75 opportunities (77.3%).

Sophomore Matt Lorita leads the team in scoring with 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points. Only Dennis Robertson has more assists, with 11 and one goal for 12 points. Sophomore Matt Harlow and junior Garnet Hathaway add 11 points apiece, while senior Chris Zaires and sophomore Ryan Jacobson have 10 each. Brown utilizes a two-goalie system. Senior Anthony Borelli has played in 12 games for a 5-4-3 record, a 1.64 GAA and a .941 save percentage. Junior Marco DeFilippo was in net for the shutout against Cornell and is 2-5-1 this season with a .900 save percentage and a 3.37 GAA.
