For the second consecutive week the eighth-ranked Princeton women’s water polo team posted an undefeated record, this time topping Bucknell, 10-3, and No. 20 Michigan, 8-6, to close out the Bison Invite Sunday in Lewisburg, Pa.

The Tigers, who defeated a pair of ranked opponents, went 4-0 at the weekend tournament along with Hartwick to share the invite title. Riding its solid 7-0 start to the season, Princeton will head next to the MAAC/CWPA Crossover at Harvard from Feb. 22-23.

The Tigers dismantled host Bucknell to kick start the day, outscoring the Bison 7-0 over the first three quarters. After cooling off on the offensive end, Bucknell managed to break up Princeton’s clean sheet and net three fourth quarter goals.

Kelly Gross led the Tigers with two goals, two assists and a steal, while Camille Hooks and Katie Rigler each found the back of the net twice as well. Ashley Hatcher contributed across the board with a goal, assist and steal, and Morgan Hallock and Molly McBee each had a pair of steals.

In goal Ashleigh Johnson posted six saves, two assists and a steal in three shutout quarters, and CeCe Coffey had three saves over her fourth quarter outing.

Princeton concluded its first road weekend of 2014 with its second ranked opponent of the year in No. 20 Michigan.

From the beginning to end it was the Tigers who were in control, as they went into halftime holding a 4-2 advantage. The Wolverines were held scoreless in the third quarter, but attempted a fourth quarter 4-3 rally to unsuccessfully upend Princeton.

Rigler headlined the offense versus UM with four goals to bring her total to six on the day. She also notched an assist and a steal, while Diana Murphy had a team-high three steals.

For the second straight contest, junior Hatcher recorded a goal, an assist and a steal, and classmate Jessie Holechek had two goals and a steal.

Johnson (7-0) amassed four shutout quarters over both games and had 13 saves and two steals versus Michigan.
