Jeremy Wong and Courtney Ciardiello will look to lead the Princeton swimming and diving teams to strong starts in the Ivy League this weekend.

The long journey towards the Ivy League Championships will begin this weekend for both the Princeton men's and women's swimming and diving teams; the reigning Ivy champions will both head to Teagle Pool in Ithaca, N.Y., for a league tri-meet with both Penn and Cornell.

For both teams, it will be the start of the dual meet season, as each opened the 2013-14 schedule last weekend with impressive performances at the Princeton Open. Though there was no team scoring, Princeton dominated on both sides in the four-team competition.

The Tiger women got multiple victories from members of each class last weekend (senior Lisa Boyce, junior Damaris Iriondo, sophomore Nicole Larson and freshmen Olivia Chan and Caitlin Chambers), and it also got several Top 5 finishes from the rest of its roster. They will look to continue that momentum into the regular season against two teams they will see several months from now during the championship weekend.

The diving portion of the meet will take place Friday at 7 pm, while the swimming competition begins Saturday at 2 pm. Princeton defeated Cornell 183-88 and Penn 165-113 during a tri-meet in Philadelphia last season.

The Tiger men will also dive at 7 pm Friday, but they will open a full Saturday of swimming by taking on both Penn and Cornell Saturday at 11 am. Last season, Princeton defeated Cornell 211-87, and it topped Penn 168-130.

The Princeton men had 10 different individual winners, with Teo D'Allesandro, En-Wei Hu-Van Wright, Julian Mackrel and Michael Manhard each winning multiple events. Manhard set a record in the 1-meter diving event.
