Caraun Reid, a 2012 All-America honoree and co-captain of the 2013 Princeton football team, has been named to the Sports Network FCS Preseason All-America Team. He is the lone Ivy League player named to the First Team.
Reid earned All-America and First-Team All-Ivy League honors last season, when he helped Princeton to a four-win turnaround, its largest in more than two decades. While playing inside and often facing double-team blocking schemes, he still placed in the Top 10 in both sacks (sixth) and tackles for loss (ninth) in the Ivy League. Reid was at his best in a shutout of Brown during Week 5; he recorded four tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a safety in a 19-0 victory over the Bears.
He is a two-time First-Team All-Ivy League honoree, and he will be the focal point on a defensive line that will need to replace Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year Mike Catapano, who was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2013 NFL Draft.
Reid will share co-captain honors with safety Phillip Bhaya, who moved from cornerback to safety last season and earned All-Ivy League Honorable Mention.
