Volleyball Sweeps Hunter On Senior Day, Will Compete For Third On Saturday
Senior Daniel Tien walked on to the Princeton men's volleyball team three years ago and developed into a trusted serving specialist that the Tigers will rely on during its crucial final two weeks of the league season.
On Sunday, during Princeton's Senior Day, Tien started on the right side and recorded five kills, eight digs and a service ace in the Tigers' 3-0 win over Hunter College. The victory is Princeton's 10th of the season, and sets the Tigers up for a match for third place next Saturday against George Mason.
"I was really happy to see Daniel perform at that level during his Senior Day," head coach Sam Shweisky said. "He led us with eight digs and his energy and leadership helped push us to this win."
Freshman Michael Bagnell had 11 kills and hit .688 for Princeton, which hit over .400 for the match. Fellow freshman Zach Shaw added eight kills, while junior middle Brad Howard had six kills and six blocks.
Princeton will host George Mason Saturday at 4 pm. A win would set up a rematch between the two teams in one EIVA semifinal; a loss would send Princeton into a semifinal against host Penn State.
