PROVIDENCE (2/2/13) - The Princeton men's hockey dropped a 5-1 game to Brown on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Meehan Auditorium.

Brown outshot Princeton 50-23 in the game and was able to score three goals in a 1:01 span to take the lead over the Tigers.

"We have to get ready for the next game and play how we can play, regardless if it's home or on the road," head coach Bob Prier said after the game regading his team's struggles on the road this year. "When we are clicking we are a good team. We still have to play hard regardless of where we're playing. It's the same group of guys, it's the same exact team. It shouldn't matter where we are playing."

Brown quickly got on the scoreboard at 1:43 of the first period with a goal by Matt Harlow. Senior Eric Meland tied the game with an unassisted goal, his first goal of the season, at 15:18 to end the first in a 1-1 tie.

A 1:01 span in the second period would give the Bears a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

The Bears took the lead at 12:11 when they took advantage of their third power-play opportunity of the game. Jack Goldberg scored his first goal of the season when he fired a shot from the left point on a pass from Massimo Lamacchio from the right point.

Thirteen seconds later Marc Senecal expanded the lead to 3-1. Mark Hourihan had back-to-back chances on the left doorstep but his second shot rebounded onto the paint and Senecal was positioned on the right side to pop it into the open net at 12:23.

Senior Mike Condon replaced junior Sean Bonar in net, but the Tigers woes continued as Garnet Hathaway scored 49 seconds later at 13:12. Hathaway buried a shot from the left dot on a dish from Nick Lappin from the right boards where Condon was anticipating a shot.

Hathway scored his second of the game, a quick goal in transition and as he and teammate Matt Lorito crashed the cage for the goal at 11:57 of the third.

Princeton was 0 for 4 on the power play and 4 for 5 on the penalty kill.

Condon finished the game with 16 saves in the final 27:37. Bonar made 29 in the first 32:23. Brown netminder Anthony Borelli made 22 stops.

Princeton falls to 7-10-4 overall and 5-6-3 in the ECAC. Brown now joins Princeton, along with St. Lawrence, in the standings with 13 points with a 8-9-5 overall record and 4-6-5 mark in the league

The Tigers are on the road again next weekend as they make the trip to Central New York to take on Colgate and Cornell on Feb. 8 & 9.
