PRINCETON, N.J. (4/7/12) - Junior Jaci Gassaway had a four-point game as the No. 18-ranked Princeton women's lacrosse team defeated Yale in dominant fashion 12-4 on Saturday, April 7 at Sherred Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.

Gassaway had three goals and one assist in the game. Junior Charlotte Davis collected her second consecutive hat trick and junior Sam Ellis and freshman Erin McMunn had three points. Freshman goalie Annie Woehling made seven save in her sixth win of the season.

The game got off to a slow start with just one goal coming in the first 23 minutes when Gassaway found Pyle for the goal at 22:49. The Tigers would keep the 1-0 edge until the final six minutes when they went on a 4-1 run to end the first. Davis tallied an unassisted goal at 6:08, Ellis scored on a free-position attempt at 4:48 and Ellis fed Gassaway for a goal at 2:56 as Princeton took a 4-0 lead.

Caroline Crow scored her first of the day to get the Bulldogs on the board at 1:24 but McMunn would answer back with a goal with 22.7 seconds left on the clock to give the Tigers a 5-1 lead at halftime.

Princeton came out of the locker room and exploded for six straight goals to make it 11-1 and by rule begin a running clock. Gassaway and sophomore Sarah Lloyd would find the twine, and Davis had two unassisted goals. Pyle and Gassaway each scored from the eight-meter during that time as well.

Crow net her second goal at 9:18 with help from Jen DeVito before Ellis put away a feed from McMunn less than a minute later, making it 12-2.

Crow snuck in her third goal of the day at 4:47 and DeVito buried one in the final minute.

Princeton outshot Yale 33-20 including a 17-9 differential in the first half. The Tigers were 66% at the circle, winning 12 of 18 draw controls. Princeton also has four more ground balls, 23-19.

Yale's netminder Erin McMullan made eight saves in the loss as the Bulldogs fall to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the Ivy League.

Princeton improves to 6-4 on the season and 3-1 in league play. The Tigers will host the reigning national champion runner-up Maryland on Wednesday night, April 11 at 7 p.m.
