 Five Princeton Men's Hockey Facts

• Four Princeton players are currently playing in the NHL. This past year Jeff Halpern '99 played with both the New York Rangers and the Montreal Canadiens.George Parros '03 spent the season with the Florida Panthers but has since been traded to the Canadiens. Darroll Powe '07 started with the Minnesota Wild before a trade to the Rangers. He is now on waivers. Kevin Westgarth '07 spent the season with the Carolina Hurricanes. Parros won the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007 and Westgarth won the Cup in 2012 with the Los Angeles King. A total of 10 Princeton players have played in the NHL and 23 have been drafted.

• Princeton's Hobey Baker Memorial Rink is the second-oldest hockey arena still in use in Division I hockey. The 2012-13 season marked the 90th anniversarty of the rink, named for the great Hobart A.H. Baker. Hobey Baker Rink opened in 1923 with the first game taking place on Jan. 5 a 3-2 Princeton win over St. Nicholas Hockey Club.

• The award for the nation's best men's hockey player is called the Hobey Baker Memorial Award. Baker is arguably Princeton's greatest athletic hero, playing both hockey and football. In three years at Princeton, he led the team to a combined record of 27-7, including three Intercollegiate League championships. He once played every second of a 73-minute game against Harvard while his teammates and opponents were substituting freely. Click here for more information on Hobey Baker

• John Messuri '89 is Princeton's all-time leading scorer. He scored 178 points on 60 goals and 118 assists during this career from 1985-89. There are 14 players who have scored 100 points or more in a career, most recently being Andrew Calof '14. Calof scored his 100th career point on the overtime game winner against Harvard that game Princeton home ice for the playoffs. He is the first junior since Andre Faust to score 100 points since 1991, the year Calof was born.

David E. Kelley '79 played for Princeton from 1976-79. He captained the Tigers his senior year and earned a degree in politics. Kelly is an award-winning television writer and producer. He is the creator of Picket Fences, Chicago Hope, The Practice, Ally McBeal, Boston Legal and several others. Kelley is married to Michelle Pfeiffer and the couple have two children, Claudia (Princeton Class of 2015) and John. Kelley is a visiting Princeton lecturer in creative wriring.
