Three Princeton alumni were on the U.S. veterans fencing team which competed in Krems, Austria, Oct. 17-21 at the Veterans World Championship.
Don Anthony '79 finished eighth in the 50-59 age group sabre event, while Rob Pavlovich '82 finished 45th in the 50-59 age group foil event and Jim Adams '61 finished 24th in the 70+ age group epee event and third in the 70+ foil event. That gave Adams his fourth world championship medal in three years.
As the newly elected president of the U.S. Fencing Association, Anthony also served as head of the American delegation, which numbered more than 60 fencers from across the nation. The U.S. also won the unofficial competition for the most medals among the countries, taking 15 medals, including two golds, while Italy won 13.
