Two years ago, they were a powerful 1-2 punch at the front of the Princeton wrestling lineup. Two injuries and a missed year later, both Garrett Frey and Chris Perez will make their return in Orange and Black singlets at the Navy Invitational this Saturday.

Frey, a three-time NCAA Championships qualifier, and Perez, a 2012 EIWA placewinner despite a torn ACL, will be part of a deep Princeton squad that will compete against a loaded field in Annapolis (see more information below). Though the Tigers won't have their full starting lineup yet — head coach Chris Ayres is hoping to have Scott Gibbons back in the next couple of weeks — this will be his first time watching Frey, Perez and Krop healthy at the same time since early February of 2012.

Krop made his return to the mats two weeks ago at the Binghamton Open, where he placed third in the season-opening tournament. He was one of five Tigers to place that weekend; sophomore Kevin Moylan, who took fourth at 149, as well as Matthew Gancayco (165), Ryan Callahan (174) and Abe Ayala (197) each earned a spot on the podium.

Ayres was able to see several of his younger competitors in action last weekend at the East Stroudsburg Open, and four placed in the one-day event (sophomores Nick Maselli and Judd Ziegler, as well as freshmen Troy Murtha and Ray O'Donnell).

This will be the final opportunity for another month for the coaching staff to evaluate the full roster in a tournament setting. The dual meet season opens in grand style next Sunday, as Princeton will take on EIWA rivals Drexel and Army in the second Grapple at the Garden. The month will also include the Celebration of New Jersey Wrestling in Jadwin Gym, when Princeton takes on local rival Rutgers at 5 pm in Jadwin Gym on Saturday, Dec. 14.
