Men's Cross Country Receives Its Highest Ranking in Preseason Poll
Preseason National Poll
NEW ORLEANS (8/27/13) - The Princeton men's cross country team is ranked 10th in the preseason national poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
This is the highest ranking that the Tigers have ever received in the preseason poll, topping the No. 11 ranking they received in 2011.
Princeton finished 11th at last year's NCAA Championships, the highest finish in program history. The Tigers return their top three runners from last year, seniors Chris Bendtsen, Alejandro Arroyo Yamin and Tyler Udland and lost just one of their scorers, Michael Franklin, from 2012. Other returners and scorers from last year include senior Jonathan vitez, juniors Matt McDonald, Eddie Owens and Sam Pons.
Additionally, Princeton is the top-ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Princeton will be going for its fourth consecutive Heps title and seventh in the last eight years. Last year six Tigers were named All-Ivy League, including the Heps champion and runner-up, four were named All-Region and three finished in the top 100 at nationals.
Princeton opens the season on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Delaware Blue Hen Invitational.
