PRINCETON, N.J. (5/5/13) - The Princeton women's track & field team finished fourth at the 2013 Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championship at Weaver Stadium. The Tigers earned 104 points, while Cornell won the team title with 145 points. Columbia was second with 131 and Harvard was third with 118. Dartmouth finished fifth with 81 points followed by Brown with 78, Penn with 56 and Yale with 10.
Junior Imani Oliver won her first Heps triple jump title with a wind-aided jump of 12.87 (42-2.75). She reached the mark on her second attempt. Oliver had previously finished second and fourth in her first two outdoor Heps, while third and fourth indoors in the event.
After posting the best time in the 400 during the prelims, sophomore Cecilia Barowski claimed victory in the finals. She clocked a 54.64 for the win. She was the runner-up in the event last spring.
Senior Greta Feldman had a productive final day. She won the 800, was runner-up in the 1500 and anchored the winning 4x800 relay. Feldman won the 800 at 2:05.90 with a big edge over the rest of the field, and the fourth fastest time in Heps history. Junior Kacie O'Neil was fifth in the event at 2:09.66. Feldman was the runner-up in her first event of the day, the 1500, at 4:25.38. Senior Alexis Mikaelian was fourth at 4:28.79.
The trio of Feldman, O’Neil and Mikaelian was joined by junior Molly Higgins in the 4x800 relay. The Tigers cruised across the line in 8:40.58 with a nearly seven-second edge over the field.
Senior Mel Newbery had two top-five individual finishes. She was third in the steeplechase at 10:20.76 and was fourth in the 3,000 at 9:34.33, shaving nearly 10 seconds off her PR.
The 4x400 relay of senior Melissa Zajdel, sophomore Kim Mackay, senior Joie Hand and Barowski placed third at 3:43.53. Hand was also sixth in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:01.98.
Junior Theresa Kennedy was fourth in the high jump clearing 1.68 (5-6) clearing on her second attempt at that height. Classmate Beth McKenna finished fourth in the heptathlon with 4,912 points.
After scoring in the 10k yesterday, senior Abby Levene scored again today in the 5k. She ran a 16:42.79 to finish in sixth place.
The 4x100 relay of senior Abidemi Adenikinju, sophomore Joanna Anyanwu, freshman Sara Ronde and senior Erin Guty also finished sixth at 48.55.
