A nearly impenetrable first half defensive line was key in the No. 12 Princeton women's water polo team's 15-3 win over George Washington Friday in Washington, D.C.

The Tigers took off on a 9-1 first half lead, while limiting the Colonials to only four shots on frame.

A sturdy Princeton lead did not deter GWU's offense from attempting to cut down the Tigers' double figure advantage to open the second half. The Colonials had eight shots on goal in the third quarter, but Princeton goalie Ashleigh Johnson deflected all but two.

Johnson only allowed shots to get past her in the second and third quarters, finishing with 10 saves and a team-high five steals.

The offense was powered by Ashley Hatcher's four goals, along with Molly McBee and Katie Rigler's three goals apiece.

The Tigers (12-2, 2-0 Southern) now head to Southern California for a pair of four-game tournaments.
