Men's XC Ranked 21st in Preseason National Poll
NEW ORLEANS (8/28/12) - The Princeton men's cross country team is ranked No. 21 in the preseason national poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Tigers finished 19th at the NCAA Championships last year and return three of the five scorers from the championship meet, including team captain and junior Chris Bendtsen, junior Tyler Udland and sophomore Eddie Owens.The team also brings back regional scorer Alejandro Arroyo Yamin as well as second-team All-Ivy runner Matt McDonald.
Princeton seeks its third consecutive Heps title and seventh straight Ivy League team championship, after winning cross country, indoor track and outdoor track in 2010-11 and 2011-12.
The Tigers are ranked No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic region behind Georgetown and Villanova, which is how the teams finished in 2011.
The program finished No. 13 in the final standings of the McDonnell Program of the Year Awards list.
Princeton opens the 2012 season on September 8 when it competes in the Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State.
