The fifth-ranked Princeton open women split a pair of races Saturday morning on Bud Smith Memorial Race Course on Lake Carnegie. The Tigers reclaimed the Eisenberg Cup against Yale, while the seventh-ranked USC Trojans topped Princeton by less than three seconds.
The victory kept Princeton perfect in the Ivy League. One week after topping Harvard, Cornell and Columbia in the Class of 1975 Cup regatta, the Tigers topped Yale by 3.2 seconds to retain the Eisenberg Cup for the third straight season. Princeton now holds a 27-11 advantage in the all-time series.
The seventh-ranked Trojans won the varsity eight race in 6:24.6, while Princeton finished second in 6:27.0. Yale took third in 6:30.2. USC also won a thriller in the second varsity race with a victorious time of 6:40.3, which was only .3 of a second faster than Princeton.
The Tiger varsity four moved to 7-0 on the season by topping second-place Yale by 2.3 seconds (7:26.5). The Princeton third varsity topped Yale by more than 19 seconds for a win in 6:50.2.
Princeton will make its first road trip of the season to the Schuylkill next Saturday morning to take on both Penn and Dartmouth for the Class Of 1984 Plaque.
