Kelly Shon was named the Ivy League's Player of the Year for the second straight year Sunday, and she did all she could to win a second straight Ivy individual title as well.

Shon carded a final-round 70 Sunday on the Upper Course at Baltusrol Golf Club, one of five players to reach that number and the only player to finish in the red in Sunday's round. No other player was better than 3-over for the tournament's final 18 holes.

Harvard freshman Anne Cheng entered the day with a four-shot lead over Yale's Elisabeth Bernabe, and although Cheng's 75 Sunday was her highest score of the weekend, it wasn't enough to open the door for a surging Shon, who rose from an eighth-place tie after 36 holes to finish runner-up to Cheng by five shots.

Cheng finished at +1 for the weekend, ahead of Shon's +6. Cheng's performance helped her team win a third straight Ivy League title, 21 shots in front of a Princeton team that finished second in back-to-back Ivy League Championship tournaments.

Shon's Player of the Year honor came from a vote of the league's coaches, the third time in the award's six years that it has gone to a Tiger golfer. Susannah Aboff '09 won the initial award while this year's is Shon's second straight.

Shon's runner-up finish also makes her a four-time All-Ivy League honoree with this as her third first-team recognition. Freshman Hana Ku earned second-team All-Ivy League honors by tying for seventh overall at +14. Since the Ivy League began sponsoring women's golf in 1997, Shon is just the seventh player to earn four All-Ivy League honors and the third Tiger to do so, after Avery Kiser '05 and Aboff.
