Late runs were enough to lift Michigan to a 4-2 victory over the Princeton baseball team Sunday to split the season series in Port St. Lucie, Fla. With the loss the Tigers drop to 2-5, while the Wolverines improve to 6-10-1.

After five scoreless innings the Tigers were first to get on the board, capitalizing on a hit, two walks and two errors. With runners on the corners, Paul Tupper sent home the game-opening RBI single. Nick Hernandez followed and made it a 2-0 game, as he recorded an RBI and reached on the second error of the inning.

The Wolverines responded quickly, knotting things up 2-2 off two hits and two walks of their own in the bottom half of the sixth.

Princeton’s offense was unable to pick up momentum again and was limited to only one hit over the final three frames, while Michigan added two more runs in the seventh off another two-hit inning.

Catcher Andres Larramendi led the offense going 2-for-4, as the Tigers finished with four hits to Michigan’s eight.

Princeton closes out its season-opening road swing with its annual spring break trip through the Mid-Atlantic from Mar. 15-23.
