PRINCETON CHASE RESULTS

Water may be on everybody's minds on the East Coast right now, but collegiate crews from around the nation were happy to get on the water Sunday afternoon for the annual Princeton Chase, which concludes the fall racing season for Princeton.

A victory for the Princeton heavyweight eight, top-three finishes for the open women (second behind NCAA champion Virginia) and the men's lightweights (third behind the last two national champions, Harvard and Yale) and a record-setting performance from the women's lightweights were among the impressive results for the host Tigers.

The heavyweight eight won in an adjusted time of 12:25.382, less than two seconds faster than second-place Northeastern. Princeton also had the top 'B' boat, which finished 11th overall in 12:53.60.

The open women placed second in 13:58.535, which topped any other Ivy League school by at least 15 seconds. The Princeton 'B' boat finished third among all 'B' boats and 11th overall in 14:26.577.

The women's lightweights posted the fastest time ever by a lightweight eight, topping all lightweight boats with a time of 15:03.864. Princeton topped second-place Georgetown by more than 19 seconds, a 12-second improvement on its performance at the Head of the Charles.

The men's lightweight eight finished in 12:48.561, which edged out Cornell for third. Harvard took the win in 12:35.609.

Several others 4s, novice 8s and other small boats competed, and you can find all results by hitting the link above. Princeton got victories from its heavyweight freshman eight and a 2-, as well as an open four, and the women's lights had a 4 which placed 13th overall in the open competition.

Princeton showed incredible teamwork following the Chase, as more than 150 members of the Princeton Crew programs joined together to prepare the Shea Rowing Center for Hurricane Sandy. See the impressive work by following the Princeton Heavyweights on Twitter.
