Men's Squash Falls At Harvard 9-0, Will Take On Dartmouth Sunday

The second-ranked Harvard Crimson handed Princeton a 9-0 loss in the Tigers' opening match of the 2014 Ivy League season.

The Tigers, who have already played three Top 6 teams on the road this season, nearly pulled out a trio of matches against the 2013 national finalist. In the first shift, Dylan Ward, who clinched back-to-back regular season wins over Harvard, built a 2-1 lead over Dylan Murray at the No. 3 spot. The final two games were both tight, but Murray won both by 11-9 scores.

That win gave the Crimson a 3-0 lead and left Princeton in a must-win situation during the second shift. The junior duo of Tyler Osborne (No. 2) and Taylor Tutrone (No. 8) nearly pulled victories off, but both fell in five.

Tutrone opened his match against Nigel Koh with a tough 12-10 win, and he opened a 2-1 lead with an 11-9 win in the third. Koh won the fourth and held off Tutrone 11-9 in the fifth.

Osborne found himself down 1-0, but he scored wins of 11-9 and 12-10 to open a lead. The fifth game would be close, but Brandon McLaughlin held off Osborne for the 11-8 win.

Those matches clinched the win for Harvard, which closed the match with a trio of 3-0 wins. At the No. 1 spot, 2012 national champion Ali Farag held off Princeton junior Samuel Kang in two tough games before eventually claiming a 3-0 win.

Princeton will try to split its Ivy weekend Sunday when it takes on Dartmouth at noon.
