Coming off its thrilling 3-2 home win over Penn last Friday night at Dillon Gym, the Princeton women's volleyball team will look to sustain momentum when it heads to New York this weekend for match-ups against Cornell (Friday, 7) and Columbia (Saturday, 5).

Princeton will bring the most recent recipients of the Ivy League individual awards, as Kendall Peterkin and Lauren Miller were just named the Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Peterkin, a first-team All-Ivy League honoree as a freshman last season, led all players with 21 kills during Princeton's 21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-25, 15-11 victory over the Quakers. She added eight digs, two service aces, one block and one assist for the Tigers, who will play their next four Ivy League matches on the road.

Peterkin leads the Ivy League in both kills (3.8) and points (4.4) per set this season. Her point total ranks in the Top 50 among all NCAA teams.

Miller earned her first Rookie of the Week honor after recording a career-high and match-best 59 assists in the win over Penn. She also added nine digs and four kills in the win. Miller helped the offense hit .313 for the match, and .308 in the crucial fifth set.

They will need to help carry that effort on the road, especially against two teams that earned 3-1 home victories over the Tigers last season. The trip begins Friday night at Cornell, which is also coming off a big 3-2 home win in its Ivy League opener; Breanna Wong had 19 kills for the Big Red in its comeback win over Columbia.

The Lions have two of the Ivy League's top three point scorers in the league this season. Sophomores Bailey Springer (3.9) and Lanti Moye-McLaren (3.4) trail only Peterkin in points per set this season.

While Peterkin and Miller had award-winning performances against Penn, Princeton had several crucial performances. The junior tandem of Nicole Kincade and Tiana Woolridge combined for 31 kills and only seven errors, while freshman outside Cara Mattaliano came off the bench to record 14 kills and 11 digs.

Senior Kelsey Janke had one of the most important matches of her career, recording nine digs and two assists while serving Princeton on a key run late in the third set, which Princeton won 25-23.
