BOX SCORE

The Princeton men's volleyball team will be counting the hours until it can get back on a bus and head to State College for the 2013 EIVA postseason. After a disappointing conclusion to the regular season, the Tigers are ready for a fresh start and a chance to make some history.

Princeton lost its opportunity to clinch the third seed when it fell 3-0 to George Mason in Saturday's home finale. Mason, a senior-dominated squad that earned the second seed with the victory, won the key late points in 25-23 and 26-24 sets, and then pulled away with a 25-19 victory in the third.

Sophomore Cody Kessel, one of three Princeton players who earned All-EIVA First Team honors on Friday, led all players with 14 kills, and he hit .346 along the way. Freshman Devin Stearns added eight kills, while senior Michael Dye added six kills and hit .500 for the match. Junior Pat Schwagler and sophomore Tony Ensbury both contributed six digs, while junior Davis Waddell had 32 assists.

Mason hit .358 for the match, and the senior duo of Andrew Dentler and Michael Kvidahl combined for 22 kills.

Princeton will be either the third or fourth seed, depending on the result of Saturday's Harvard-Sacred Heart match. If Harvard wins, Princeton will be the fourth seed and will play Penn State in the second semifinal; if Sacred Heart wins, Princeton will be the third seed and will play George Mason at 5:30 pm in the first semifinal.

Princeton was winless against both Penn State and George Mason this season, and it split against Harvard. The Tigers took a set in each of the two Penn State matches, and it fell 3-1 in the EIVA opener at Mason.
