Behind a 13-hit and complete game performance from Zak Hermans, the Princeton baseball team opened its first Ivy road trip of the year with a 7-1 victory over Dartmouth Saturday. Game two did not fair as well for the Tigers, as they were plagued by five errors and the Big Green upended them 6-1 to close out the season series.

Turning Point of the Game: With a 1-1 game heading into the third, the Tigers took control of things for good. Led by an Alec Keller leadoff home run, Princeton followed his solo shot with consecutive doubles, including a Mike Ford RBI double. Princeton closed out its scoring with a Will Davis RBI single down the left field line to go up 4-1. The Tigers added three more insurance runs down the stretch, as Hermans tossed six scoreless frames.

After knotting things up in the second inning of game two, Dartmouth took control of the game in the fourth. The Tigers committed three of its five errors in the inning and the Big Green scored three runs on four hits and three errors.

Player/Pitcher of the Game: Hermans earned his second complete game victory to improve to 2-2 on the year in game one. Over seven innings, he struck out four and scattered five hits in 30 batters faced in the 7-1 victory. After giving up a pair of hits and a run in the bottom of the first, runners

Batters of the Game: It was a good day for the freshmen infield tandem of Billy Arendt and Danny Hoy. Both put together multi-hit performances in game one to lead the offense. Arendt went 2-for-4 with two runs and Hoy went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs.

Ford went 2-for-3 with a walk in game two to headline Princeton’s four-hit game two performance.

Honorable Mention: Leadoff hitter Keller had a pair of hits and a walk over both games. Leading off the third in game one, Keller hit his third homer of the year over the fence in right center.

Career First: Freshman pitcher Cameron Mingo (0-3) made his first career Ivy start in game two and second of his career. He went five innings, striking out three and scattering six hits. He gave up only two earned runs during that span.

On Deck: The Tigers (6-19, 4-2 Ivy) head to Harvard for a final Rolfe Division series on Sunday. First pitch is set for 12 noon in Cambridge, Mass.
