Box Score: Game Two

The Princeton baseball team opened Ivy League play on a strong note, riding solid pitching from Zak Hermans to a 4-0 victory over Yale. The Tigers (3-17, 1-1 Ivy) were unable to maintain their pace and momentum in game two versus the Bulldogs, falling 9-1 to split the series.

Turning Point of the Game: Alec Keller led off the first with a home run to left field to score what would be the game-winning run in game one. His long ball provided the Princeton with the early offensive control it needed.

In game two, Yale's offense capitalized early and Princeton was never able to find its offensive groove. Down 2-0 in the top of the third, the Bulldogs sealed things up scoring three runs on two hits and two Princeton errors.

Beyond the Box: Four freshmen made their Clarke Field debuts, with shortstop Billy Arendt and second baseman Danny Hoy starting both games. The latter game saw Cameron Mingo toss 5.0 innings and strikeout four, and Chris Bodurian go 0.1 inning.

Player/Pitcher of the Game: Senior Hermans earned his first victory of the year in his complete game shutout 4-0 game one win. He scattered three hits, while striking out five in 24 batters faced. He had four 1-2-3 frames out of seven and the Tigers provided him with run support, scoring four runs on 11 hits.

Batter of the Game: Junior Keller went 4-for-9 with two runs and an RBI as the leadoff hitter in both games. In game one, he had the leadoff home run to ultimately account for the Tigers' winning run.

Honorable Mention Batter of the Game: Alex Flink went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI in game one. He recorded an RBI single through the left side in the first and an RBI single up the middle in the fourth.

Play of the Day: Keller's home run was an immediate game changer and reenergized a Princeton team that entered today's doubleheader at 2-16. It was the team's fourth homer of the year and Keller's second in 17 appearances.

A Little History Making: Saturday's doubleheader marked the first time baseball has been live streamed. Fans will be able to tune into all home contests via GoPrincetonTigers.tv's streaming package.

On Deck: Princeton hosts Brown tomorrow Sunday, Mar. 31 in doubleheader action. First pitch versus the Bears is 12 noon at Clarke Field.
