2012-13 PRINCETON SEASON PREVIEW

Freshman Jack Sanborn and a pair of relays earned wins for the Princeton men's swimming and diving team Friday night during the first session of the season-opening Big Al Open.

Princeton opened the meet with a victory in the 200 free relay, and it saw a pair of freshmen help lead the way. Freshmen Teo D'Alessandro and Jeremy Wong joined sophomore Harrison Wagner and senior Brian Barrett for a win in 1:23.06.

Freshman En-Wei Hu-Van Wright took second in the 500 free with a time of 4:35.84, while D'Alessandro (4:37.66) and sophomore Caleb Tuten (4:38.66) place 4-5 in the event.

Princeton took the top five spots in the 200 IM, and three freshmen were first to touch the wall. Byron Sanborn and Marco Bove produced the most exciting finish of the session, with Sanborn (1:52.53) topping Bove (1:52.57) by less than half a second. Hu-Van Wright took third in 1:53.31, while Maher finished fourth in 1:53.57. Junior Daniel Hasler took fifth in 1:55.26.

Fordham's Demetrios Karedis won the 50 free, while Wagner (20.99) and freshman Brooks Powell (21.04) placed second and third.

The Tiger men went 1-2 in the 400 medley relay to finish the session. The team of Maher, Hasler, Oliver Bennett and Wong won the race in 3:24.16, while Kaspar Raigla, Jack Pohlmann, Bove and Ian Rea placed second in 3:27.11.
