While the Ivy League championship will not land in Princeton this fall, the Tigers can maintain sole possession of second place and send their seniors out with two more wins during the season-ending road trip through New York this weekend.
A loss last Saturday to Yale clinched the league title for the Bulldogs and left Princeton alone in second with a 9-3 Ivy record. The Tigers currently stand one match ahead of Penn and two ahead of Columbia in the race for second place in the league.
Princeton will open the weekend Friday night at Cornell, a team Princeton defeated 3-1 earlier this season. The duo of Lydia Rudnick and Kendall Peterkin, which currently stands 1-2 in the Ivy League in kills this season, combined for 33 of the team's 53 kills in that match.
On Saturday, the Tigers will conclude their season with a 5 pm showdown at Columbia. Princeton won a hard-fought 3-1 decision at Dillon Gym earlier this season over the Lions; sophomore setter Ginny Willis had 54 assists in the match, while freshman libero Sarah Daschbach had 19 digs. Saturday's game can be watched on GoPrincetonTigers.tv.
The weekend will be the final one for the senior trio of Rudnick, Molly Bagshaw and Jennifer Palmquist. They have helped Princeton to 39 wins in 56 Ivy matches, with two more to play. If the Tigers sweep the weekend, they will have gone 22-6 in league play as upperclassmen.
