Getting goals from Rachel Sheehy and Lynessa McGee, the Princeton women's soccer team defeated Brown 2-0 Saturday afternoon on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.

The win moved Princeton to 7-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the Ivy, while Brown fell to 6-4 and 0-3 in league play.

The Tigers had peppered Brown in the first half for 13 shots to Brown's four overall, including a 5-1 advantage on goal, but Princeton couldn't solve starter Amber Bledsoe. Brown continued its goalkeeper rotation and put in MC Barrett in the second half, scoring twice in a five-minute span to break the game open.

Princeton's first goal came in the 77th minute. Alison Nabatoff served a ball into the box, and Caitlin Blosser, Brown keeper Barrett and another Brown defender went up for it, the ball going off Blosser's head and to a waiting Sheehy to knock it in.

In the 82nd minute, Princeton added some insurance when Jen Hoy found McGee for a shot from about 25 yards out that arced its way inside the left post for a 2-0 lead.

Princeton's next game will come Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Lehigh at Roberts Stadium. The next Ivy contest is next Saturday at Columbia, also at 7 p.m.

Postgame notes:

• Princeton is 3-0 in the Ivy League for the seventh time since 2000 and the first time since 2010.

• The goal and the points that came with it were both career firsts for McGee, a sophomore in her first year on the team.

• Princeton and Penn are tied atop the Ivy League at 3-0 with four games to play. The pair are three points clear of Dartmouth and Columbia, who are 2-1.

• Princeton has won five games in a row for the first time since 2008. A win Wednesday at home against Lehigh (7 p.m.) would give Princeton its longest winning streak since a seven-game run in 2007.

• Princeton has not given up a goal to Brown in the three meetings at Roberts Stadium since the building opened in 2008.

• Brown came into the game having allowed just seven goals over its first nine games this season, though Brown has now allowed two goals in each of its last three contests.

• Jen Hoy's assist was her 23rd point of the season, an Ivy League best. She also leads the Ivy with 11 goals.

• Rachel Sheehy's goal was her first of the season and second of the midfielder's career, the other coming last Oct. 18 against Utah Valley.

• The shutout was Princeton's third this season, all of which have come at home and all with Claire Pinciaro in goal.

• Princeton has outshot its opponent in 7 of 11 games this season. The Tigers outshot Brown 22-11 overall.
