Box Score

In a hard fought come-from-behind effort, the Princeton sprint football team suffered a heartbreaking 32-29 overtime loss to Post Friday evening at Princeton Stadium.

Post jumped out in the first quarter with a 12-0 lead, but a team safety and an Andrew Bierschenk field goal would make it a 12-5 ball game with 7:45 to play before halftime.

The Eagles would maintain control of the game in the second quarter, adding a third touchdown, but they again were unable to convert on the extra point.

Jaison Zachariah responded by leading a 77-yard touchdown drive, finding an open Chris Cadman with 19 seconds to go before intermission. The Tigers went into halftime trailing by a possession, 18-12.

Princeton continued to trail in the third quarter, as Post's Quinton Bryant ran into the end zone to improve his side's advantage to 26-12.

The Tigers would have to wait two more possessions before quarterback Joe Bush threw a 36-yard touchdown to Cadman with 57 seconds left in the third quarter. Bierschenk's extra point would be blocked and Princeton would trail 26-18 entering the final quarter.

In less than a minute, Bush drove the Tigers down the field to even the score, 26-26, at 10:45 in the fourth. He threw a 27-yard touchdown reception to John Wolfe and converted a two-point conversion to Sean Conrad.

With six seconds left in regulation, Post sent in Peter Clearly in hopes of sending in a game-winning field goal. Clearly's kick was blocked by Bob Dougherty and the Tigers would head into overtime.

Princeton managed to score a field goal on its overtime possession, but Post would find the end zone on a Shawn Boose five-yard rush to hand the Tigers the loss.

The Tigers (0-4) conclude the home half of the 2012 schedule next Friday, Oct. 12 versus Franklin Pierce at 7 p.m.
