DIRECTORS' CUP

With five teams picking up points during another successful winter, Princeton currently stands 39th in the latest Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings.

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup is a program that honors institutions maintaining a broad-based program, achieving success in many sports, both men's and women's. Began in 1993-94 for Division I by NACDA and USA Today, it was expanded in 1995-96 to include Division II, III and the NAIA.

After scoring 108.5 points in the fall, Princeton gained 220 points in the winter and stands as the only Ivy League athletic department in the Top 50. Leading the way was the second-place fencing team, which scored 90 points at the 2012 NCAA Championships.

The men's swimming and diving team, coming off its fourth straight Ivy League title, placed 23rd nationally and grabbed 51 points. Both the wrestling team (28 points) and the men's track & field team (26) had 45th-place finishes at the NCAA Championships, while the women's basketball team recorded 25 points for qualifying for the NCAAs.

Not only is Princeton the highest-ranking Ivy program, but it is the third-highest non-BCS school in the most updated standings. Only New Mexico (28th) and BYU (32nd) are ranked higher than Princeton.
