Sheldon a Double Winner at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/18/12) - The Princeton track & field teams completed its home schedule for the 2012 indoor season with the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Jadwin Gym.

Freshman Omar Jarrett won the high jump clearing 1.98 meters (6-6). Sophomore Brad Pelisek took fourth with a jump of 1.85 (6-00.75).

Senior Derek Hynes won the pole vault with a height of 4.80 (15-9), a mark he reached on his first attempt at that height. Fellow senior Dave Slovenski was second with the same clearance, reached on his second attempt. Rookie Adam Bragg tied for third at 4.65.

Junior Richard Sheldon won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.10 with freshman Rob Mohr second at 8.26. Sheldon also won the heptathlon, as the Tigers went 1-2-3 in the event. Sheldon collected 5,037 points with Mohr in second place with 4,811 and Pelisek third at 4,428.

Freshman Daniel McCord won the 200 cruising in at 22.33, his first career event win.

Senior Ivan Charbonneau and freshman Tommaso Greenbaum made the final of the 60. Charbonneau was third at 7.05 and Greenbaum fourth at 7.07.

Senior Patrick Park was the runner up in the shot put with a throw of 16.32 (53-6.50). Freshman Scott Rushton was fourth with a mark of 15.12 (49-7.25).

In the long jump, sophomore Tom Hopkins finished third when he jumped to 7.33 (24-00.75) on his first try. Freshman Stephen Soerens was fourth when he reached 7.33 on his sixth attempt.

Fifth-place finishes were recorded by sophomore Jake Taylor in the weight, senior Ricky Kearney in the 400 and sophomore Jason Dzuranin in the 800.

Princeton's 4x4 relay of Tom Scott, Nilan Schnure, Mohr and Kearney was second with a time of 3:21.21.
