TigerBlog On The Directors' Cup

The list of schools at the top of the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup hardly ever changes, and the one at the very top never does.

With all of the points for 2011-12 counted, Stanford has clinched its 18th straight Cup, with its usual gigantic lead. Florida is second, followed by Ohio State, UCLA and Texas, all of whom are familiar to the top.

Princeton's goals each year are to finish in the top 40-50 or even higher and to be the top school from the FCS, and it appears that Princeton has accomplished both goals for this academic year.

Princeton finished 39th in the standings and is not only the highest-ranked FCS team but also the only FCS team in the top 50.

Princeton earned spring points in men's lacrosse, men's track and field, women's track and field, women's open rowing and women's water polo.

Princeton finished with 539 points.

Princeton has been the highest finishing Ivy school 16 times in the Cup's 19 years and has now finished in the top 40 14 times in 19 years.
