The Princeton softball program held its annual banquet Monday afternoon in Jadwin Gym, recognizing its senior class and awarding its annual team honors.

In addition to seniors Maddie Cousens and Tory Roberts earning two of the team's three annual awards, two members of the Princeton Class of 1991, Jessica Deutsch and Jennifer Lublin, remembered their classmate Kathy Kobler Garrett '91 while awarding the annual honor named for Garrett to sophomore Skye Jerpbak.

The Kathy Kolber Garrett '91 Memorial Award, presented to the player whose generosity, positive attitude, genuine consideration for others, and quiet energy makes her essential to the success of the team, has been given since 2010 in honor of Garrett, who played both softball and soccer at Princeton and passed away in 2007. A catcher, Jerpbak made 31 starts in 33 games played, both career-best totals. Her three home runs co-led the team, and she was one of six players with 10-plus RBIs on the season.

Cousens, an outfielder and a catcher, won the Patton-Poole Women's Softball Award, presented since 1990 to the player whose sportsmanship and influence has been most valuable to the team. A senior co-captain who started and played 37 games, Cousens hit .300 in her final season, scoring a team-second best 15 runs with six doubles and co-led the team with three home runs.

Roberts, an infielder and a senior co-captain with Cousens, won the Cindy Cohen Award, named for Princeton's winningest softball coach and awarded since 1983 to the senior who through sportsmanship, dedication and consistent effort has been an inspiration to her teammates. Roberts played in 26 contests and made 21 starts, compiling a .926 fielding percentage with just four errors on the season.

The banquet also served to recognize Khristin Kyllo, who entered with the Princeton softball Class of 2014 but passed away in 2011, less than two months before her freshman spring season began. Cousens and Roberts offered memories of their teammate, and tables were adorned with purple ribbons in recognition of epilepsy awareness.

The Tigers completed their second season under Lisa Sweeney, who served as the emcee of the banquet, and were little more than a week removed from a campaign that kept Princeton in the race for the Ivy League South Division title into the final weekend.
