PRINCETON, N.J. (2/21/14) - A four-goal third period gave No. 19 Colgate a 6-1 win over Princeton in men's hockey on Friday, Feb. 21 at Hobey Baker Rink.

Tyson Spink had a hat trick for the Raiders and scored the team's first two goals. His first was the lone goal of the first period. After a battle for the puck in the corner, Kyle Baun came charging in and picked the puck up behind the goal and sent it into the slot for Spink who was all alone for the score.

Senior Jack Berger scored his fifth goal of the season to knot the game at 1-1 midway through the second period. Senior Alec Rush and sophomore Mike Ambrosia assisted on the Tigers goal.

The Raiders quickly regained the lead in the next 1:31 with Spink's second goal. He was assisted by brother Tylor. Tylor collected it along the right boards on the hashmarks of the circle and sent it in on towards the goal. Tyson got his stick on it and sent it five hole to give Colgate a 2-1 lead at the second intermission.

Colgate opened up the game with four straight goals in the third period, by four different scores. Two of those goals came on power-play opportuntities as the Raiders went 2 for 8 and improved to 15-11-5 overall and 11-5-3 in league play.

Freshman Colton Phinney made 39 saves in goal during the first 47:30. He was replaced by junior Ryan Benitez for the final 12:30. Playing in his first collegiate game, Benitez made 11 saves on 12 shots.

Princeton (5-21, 4-15 ECAC) hosts No. 13 Cornell tomorrow, on Senior Day. Game time is at 7 p.m. Princeton will honor its 10 seniors following the conclusion of the game.
