Volleyball Picks Up Its First Win Of 2014, Sweeps Sacred Heart
The Princeton men's volleyball team was in desperate need of a victory Friday night, and it wasn't about to let a showdown at Sacred Heart get away. After four straight 3-2 losses, Princeton showed impressive offensive efficiency in a 3-0 victory at its EIVA rival.
Princeton hit .371 for the match and won three tight sets in a 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 road win. The victory is the first this season for Princeton, but it also moves it back to the .500 mark in EIVA play.
Junior Cody Kessel capped his strongest weekend of the season with 13 kills, six digs and four blocks, while sophomore Devin Stearns added 12 kills and four blocks. Stearns hit .500 for the match, though five of Princeton's six starters hit at least .300 in the effort.
The Tigers will travel to Springfield, Mass., next weekend for the Hall of Fame Classic, and they will return to EIVA play Tuesday, Feb. 25, when they host Rutgers-Newark at 7 pm. That will start a crucial stretch for Princeton, which will play six of its seven EIVA home matches over a 12-day stretch.
