PRINCETON (11/15/13) – Thanks to a three-goal flurry in a span of less than three minutes, the Princeton women's hockey team stretched its winning streak to four games on Friday, Nov. 15 at Hobey Baker Rink with a 3-1 win against New Hampshire.

After the Wildcats outshot the Tigers 6-2 in the first period, senior forward Olivia Mucha put Princeton on top with her fourth goal of the season with 1:06 remaining in the second. The Tigers held a 7-5 advantage in shots in the middle period.

Princeton kept its momentum going after the second intermission with a pair of goals less than a minute into the third. Just 25 seconds into the period, junior defender Ali Pankowski deposited a rebound for a goal assisted by sophomore forward Jaimie McDonell and freshman forward Hilary Lloyd.

A mere 24 seconds later, Denna Laing gave the Tigers a 3-0 advantage as she tallied her second goal of the year. The senior forward, who fed Mucha on the game’s first score, received help with assists from Mucha and senior forward Sally Butler.

“All of our lines battled tonight,” Princeton head coach Jeff Kampersal said. “Each line showed lots of heart and soul, and with our tenacity, we continue to get better as games go along.”

Meanwhile, Kimberly Newell kept New Hampshire off the scoreboard for the game’s first 57 minutes. Although Haley Breedlove eventually found the back of the net for the Wildcats, the Tigers’ sophomore goaltender made 24 saves.

“With Gabie Figueroa out tonight, everyone on defense stepped up in her absence,” Kampersal said.

The four-game winning streak for Princeton is the Tigers longest since February 2011.

Princeton seeks its fifth consecutive victory on Saturday at Hobey Baker Rink at 3:00 p.m. against No. 5 Boston College.
