HAMILTON, N.Y. (11/2/13) - All the action came in the third period as the Colgate men's hockey scored three times to Princeton's one after two scoreless periods, in the Tiger' 3-1 loss at Starr Rink.

The Raiders had a slight 20-17 edge in shots through the first two periods and then opened the third with two goals in the first five minutes.

There were a combined 11 power plays and two 5-on-3 opportunities for the Raiders that were squashed by the Tigers.

Darcy Murphy scored the game's first goal at 3:33 off a feed from Kevin Lough. Lough got the puck on a draw by Mike Borkowski and circled behind the net, faking a wrap around before slipping the puck out to Murphy fot the score.

Forty-three seconds later, Spiro Goulakos scored the eventual game winner with a blast from the top of the circle. Jake Kulevich fed him the puck from the blue line and his shot made its way through traffic and into the back of the net.

Freshman Ryan Siiro put the Tigers' within one with his first career goal at 8:58 with junior Aaron Kesselman and sophomore Mike Ambrosia assisting. Siiro got the puck after a battle out in front and backhanded it past netminder Charlie Finn.

Tylor Spink added an unassisted goal on a Princeton turnover after a defender broken his stick. Spink stole the puck and gave Colgate a 3-1 lead at 16:32. The goal went into review and was cofirmed.

Princeton desperately tried to get another goal, playing with an extra attacker for the final 1:22 of the game.

Freshman Colton Phinney made 29 saves in his collegiate debut for the Tigers, who fall to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Finn made 27 saves in goal for Colgate in his first win of the season. Colgate is now 3-5-1 overall and 1-1 in the ECAC.

Princeton returns home to begin a six-game homestand. The Tigers host Yale and Brown in the home opening weekend, Nov. 8 & 9.
